The Emmett Hodgins Trio is a modern jazz trio based in Toronto. Pushing the boundaries of modern jazz trio sound and shaped by the BC Coast, Emmett brings a background in classical, fiddle, and jazz into his writing. Meeting in college, Emmett Hodgins, Chris Parnis, and Aaron Blewett have developed a unique sound that reflects their evolution as musicians. Bibliosmia, meaning "the satisfying smell of old books", is the Trio’s debut record. It is very fitting that it was recorded at Sellers and Newel, one of the first Toronto venues to host the Trio and support their work in the local music scene. Recorded amidst shelves of books, Bibliosmia evokes the feeling of music playing softly as you wander your favourite bookstore--intimate, familiar, and grounded in everyday moments.
